Game Information
The AXU Universe
(Current as of April 9, 2009)
Canon Context: We use the primary Marvel continuity (Earth-616). Specifically we focus on the X-Universe characters, which make up the X-Men and its splinter teams and villains. Anything before "M-Day" (Decimation) is fair game. No mutants have been de-powered and the mutant population still numbers in the hundreds of thousands. Throughout the maturity of the game, expect some crossovers from different teams and their histories. If you want to explore events AFTER "M-Day" but are unrelated to mutants being depowered, then you're on the hook to fold that into your character's plot somehow IC. Otherwise, most everything is acceptable and encouraged. Explore what makes you happy.
Acceptable Characters: We're currently only accepting canon or original characters that have had a history joining the X-Men team or its many splinter teams. For example, we're not accepting members of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Inhumans, etc. at the moment. However, we'll happily accept X-Universe villains!
Timeline: For simplicity's sake, "today" and the "present" align with our own IRL dates. So the current year is 2009.
Global Social Threats: Currently no severe warnings.
Global Political Threats: Currently no severe warnings.
Global Environmental Threats: Currently no severe warnings.
Squad Leaders: Squad leaders from each team are either appointed by the moderating team based on canon or get elected IC by their team members. Responsibilities of a squad leader include proposing plots for the squad to investigate, keeping the team together IC in the event of an attack or invasion, and basically living up to their role and potential. Most importantly, squad leaders should know how to keep things fun.
Team Sitreps
(Current as of April 9, 2009)
New Excalibur's squad leader, Pete Wisdom, is looking to put together a team to investigate supernatural and mystical affairs on behalf of the "Weird Happenings Organization" (WHO). They are based out of MI-13's headquarters in Whitehall, London.
The X-Men are keeping the status quo in Westchester by running Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The headmaster and squad leader continues to be Scott Summers (Cyclops). The new generation of students have nicknamed the school "Mutant High" and "Academy X" on behalf of the school's mission, which is to train young mutants how to control their powers. To promote experience in a team environment, the students have been divided into competing squads:
- Alpha Squadron - advised by Northstar, squad leader undetermined
- Corsairs - advised by Cyclops, squad leader undetermined
- Hellions - advised by Emma Frost, squad leader is Hellion
- New Mutants - advised by Danielle Moonstar, co-squad leaders are Prodigy and Wind Dancer
- Paragons - advised by Rahne Sinclair, squad leader undetermined
New Mutants was named by Danielle Moonstar in honor of the original New Mutants squad, which she herself was a member. Originally, the squad leader was Wind Dancer (Sofia Mantega), but her argument against Julian in the middle of a competition cost the team a win. She is now co-leader with the brainiac of the group, Prodigy (David Alleyne), and the squad is much more formidable because of it.
